What you said :

Here is what you have said about Stratford Jazz
at The Chapel, No.1 Shakespeare Street.

From Roy Stevens,

Many thanks for your responses to my "alarm" June email.
You were almost unanimous in making the following points:-

1) The new venue is a great improvement
- although a few remarked that it is not as "clubby" as the White Swan.

2) Admission charges are reasonable.

3) Bar prices are reasonable.

4) No wish to compromise on the presently high standards of the gigs/jazz musicians.

5) Some problems with car-parking but not insurmountable - we will offer advice in future.

The following is a list of your main suggestions for us to think about:-

1) More trad/blues gigs in the mix.

2) Fewer gigs - perhaps one a month or fortnightly.

3) A complete break during the months of July/August - also suggested June/July/August.

4) Possible funding from Arts Council, Jazz Services, Stratford Town Trust or No.1 (our venue).

5) Broaden our advertising and not just rely on website and email.

6) Loyalty scheme for regulars.

7) Incentives for younger people to attend e.g., college students.

8) Ask present regulars to be more pro-active in encouraging friends to attend.

It is hoped to convene a meeting in the near future but if you wish to comment further in the meantime do not hesitate and thanks for your interest and support.
